Kung Fu and Western Philosophy

Peimin Ni wrote an interesting comparison between Western and Eastern philosophy for the NY Times.  You can read it here.  I thought maybe some of you smart people might find it interesting, especially some of you smart people who were raised biculturally.

I think my own upbringing has actually been more Western than Eastern due to the presence of fundamentalist Christianity–which I’ve since discontinued in my adult and in my children’s tradition.  I also think that this blog probably follows a very Western tradition of what Derrida calls “logocentrism” in that many of us are always trying to answer questions of “why” or “how.”  Why, for example, is there a gender disparity?

The Difference Between Bruce and Jet (and Jackie)

In our last podcast with Ed and Eric, we touched on the difference between Bruce, Jackie, and Jet.  Vu had brought up the difference between Jackie and Jet during the podcast, and we made numerous inquiries into the characters that the actors portrayed and their respective reputations.  For me, if we look at the three guys at the highest points of their careers, there’s always been a clear difference between the three men physically:
