How To Prevent Emotional Infidelity

Thanks, AMR, for alerting us to this handy advice video from MSN that once again, repeats The Meme.  In order to avoid emotionally cheating on your spouse according to this video, you need an emotional radar, good communication, and temptation avoidance.  And related to temptation avoidance, if you’re an attached White dude who works in an office, avoid hot young Asian chicks.  Hot young Asian chicks are like kryptonite to a strong marriage between two White people. (Note: I’m being sarcastic, but this may not always be bad advice.)

No House, No Date!

Look what’s on the NY Times front page: For Many Chinese Men, No Deed Means No Dates.  (Awesome picture, too.)  Yikes, even guys in the motherland have got it tough.  The article says:

…by the exacting standards of single Chinese women, it seems, Mr. Wang lacks that bankable attribute known as real property. Given that even a cramped, two-bedroom apartment on the dusty fringe of the capital sells for about $150,000, Mr. Wang’s $900-a-month salary means he may forever be condemned to the ranks of the renting.

Carrie Ann Inaba Gets Engaged

Oh no.  No you dit-nt.  Not you too!  Embargo, arretez s’il vous plait!  Again and again and again.  Drag collective poor Asian dudes naked over hot burning coals, sisters.  Yamete-kure!!! When is the community store gonna start doing business with the community? When is the Asian man gonna catch a break?

Aight, here’s a different image from the Alpha-Asian:

Yeah, it’s fictional. So what? Asian men need a fictional boost. Plus, Doritos are great. Helluva lot better than watching reality TV!

Pepsi’s Angry Black Woman

I saw the video above on Abagond. In Abagond’s post, he writes about stereotypes of the angry Black woman–what he calls the Sapphire stereotype–and how this commercial promotes not only as “angry, overbearing, undesirable and hard to get along with,” but that it also reinforces the stereotype of Black women being angry at Black men for chasin’ Becky.

The enemy of the Black woman in the commercial

I’ll Keep You My Dirty Little Secret, Dirty Little Secret, Dirty Little Secret…

The reach of the radio waves.  I can’t even hear “secret” without having that Rejects song go through my head.  (although from the video, it looks like those are the PostSecret postcards…hmm…)

Thanks to that someone (don’t know if she wants to be mentioned) who sent a link to the PostSecret submission above.  It was posted on Valentine’s Day, so I’m guessing it’s a Valentine’s Day tribute to the guy who owns the light-complexioned hand in the picture.  As some of you know, I’m writing a book length piece on IR.  Don’t expect it to be done very soon, but I’ve got faith that I eventually will finish it, hopefully in the next year. I’ve put in my 10,000 hours plus towards mastery, and I am indeed an expert.  It will be quite involved–how will non-AA blogosphere people know what MM.com is or what a yokojohn is?  Or for that matter, what AF/WM is?  I’m going to have to put a glossary in the back.

Rice Chasers on the Tyra Show

Part 1

Part 2

Part 3

75% of all interracial relationships are WM/AF. That’s incredible given that AA’s are only 4% of the population. Sorry about the mass postings.  I’ve been overwhelmed by people sending stuff in–good stuff too.  Usually I try to post only once every couple days, but you have to post good stuff when it’s up.

Amy Chua: Chinese Conceit, Chinese Ignorance, and the $24,000 question

Amy Chua and family

Amy Chua, author of World on Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability, wrote an article about Chinese child-rearing today: Why Chinese Mothers are Superior (Thanks to Jason from RiceDaddies for sending; and thanks to Fai for asking for this post.)  In the article, Chua espouses a hard-line “Chinese” way of raising kids.  She tells us how strict she is with her kids.   She writes about how Chinese mothers, as opposed to “Western” mothers, don’t care about self-esteem.  She writes about how Western people coddle their children.  She justifies her own ridiculous behavior by talking about how well Chinese kids do in school. She uses her White Jewish husband Jed as a counterpoint to her insanity.

An Easy Activist Action to Protest Apple’s Exclusion of Asian Men

Woo hoo!  Lots of people read the post about Apple and the AF/WM theme in their advertising.  I said that I would write them a letter about including more Asian men, and I finally did.  See below–I sent it to Steve Jobs and Philip Schiller this morning.  I have no idea whether they’ll do anything about it, but I figure it’s worth a shot.  There was some ignorance on my part of how the media/acting industry operates, so special thanks to Minority Militant and Philip from You Offend Me You Offend My Family for helping a brother out.

Russell Wong in Nikita

Russell Wong in Nikita

Has anyone been watching Nikita with Maggie Q?  I’ve been tuning in with the foreknowledge that it’ll only be time before I grow tired of it.  It’s a typical CW show with very little substance but lots of hot people.  Maggie Q looks great in this series, and her martial arts work isn’t bad either.  Her young white female protege is hot, as is the white female’s black female rival.  Hotness in three colors.  It’s great that the CW is diversifying–with the women, at least.  As usual, almost all the guys are White.

To Be or Not To Be (A Rice Chaser)

There’s an interesting article and video feature (see above) in the Times today about White guys who go to Thailand to find love and who eventually stay there.  According to the article, the Western men are looking for “accommodating” Thai women, while Thai women are looking for money and stability.  According to the article, the phenomenon of Western Guy/Thai Woman is taking off.

“There are villages in Isaan that are almost entirely comprising foreign houses, where the whole village is almost entirely houses purchased by foreigners for their Thai ladies,” said Phil Nicks, author of “Love Entrepreneurs: Cross-Culture Relationship Deals in Thailand.”
