Podcast: Interracial Relationships and the Gender Divide, Asian American Female Perspective
C-Bruhs (BicoastalBitchin), Eva (Blake and Micah podcast), and Sylvie (Antisocial Ladder) recorded an all-female podcast yesterday. It’s the third in an ongoing series about Asian American Interracial Relationships and the Gender Divide that we started last year on the first part and continued a few weeks ago with URB4N on the second part. This third one runs for just over an hour. Download it here (55 megabytes fat–not phat–since, once again, I ran into GarageBand problems), or listen to it here:

PostSecret for Asian Americans

(pic from here)
Caught news of a new site called PostMimi at Slant Eye for the Round Eye. It’s a PostSecret-style blog, where the author Karen encourages Asian Americans to e-mail or mail their secrets to her.
I like the idea. But many Asian Americans already routinely post their secrets under anonymous handles on sites like the 44s and 8 Asians. I remember admin-ing the 44s and meeting some guy who admitted that he had been convicted of attempted rape, and that he didn’t care or have remorse. It was baffling (and sickening). So I wonder whether anyone will actually post anything original.

Women Hold Up Half the Sky

(Pic from here)
Was reading some of the comments from the last podcast, and I just wanted to share a few thoughts. These are just my thoughts. Feel free to disagree.
1. Asian men and women and women share a common link. Socially, both rise and fall within the hierarchy together. One may be ahead of the other at any given point, but each hinders or buoys the other. When Hong Kingston diminishes me, she diminishes Asian women. People see her elevating White men on a pedestal, and it makes her look bad. Similarly, if I were to launch a war against Asian women, I’d end up destroying Asian men. I can’t launch a war against my own daughter or sister and expect it to empower me. (And yes, I have both.) Especially my daughter–my job is to protect her and do whatever I can to exert an influence that encourages her creativity and freedom.
Podcast: URB4N talks about Interracial Relationships
After our first attempt at discussing IR via podcast, we finally brought back URB4N! In this podcast, URB4N, a 29 year old Asian American alpha male investment banker from NYC who posts on 8Asians, Yellowworld, and the 44s, discusses the interracial dating disparity among Asian Americans, and he shares his thoughts about how it affects society, where the trend is heading, and what Asian men need to do. Download it here, or listen to it here:
