Happy 70th Birthday, Bruce Lee!

If Bruce Lee were alive today, he would be 70 years old. Happy Birthday, Bruce!

Time Magazine has a great pictorial celebration of his life here. Here’s the best quote (along with the picture above):

In 1972, Lee invited Chuck Norris, the reigning world karate champion, to fight opposite him as the centerpiece of his film Return of the Dragon. When Norris asked who the victor of the match would be, the answer to Lee was obvious. In a commentary for WorldNetDaily, Norris recalled asking Lee, “Oh you’re going to beat up on the current world karate champion?” “No, I’m going to kill the current world karate champion,” replied Lee.

Thanks to Leon, who sent this: Brucelee.com.  I’m glad Shannon is continuing to share her father’s legacy.  The man was absolutely brilliant.  I had forgotten that he died at 32.  It’s amazing how much he accomplished at such a young age; I’ve already outlived him!  Check out this really cool article about Bruce on ufc.com.  Dana White calls Bruce Lee the “Father of Mixed Martial Arts,” and Frank Shamrock, who hates Dana White, also called Bruce the “Father of Mixed Martial Arts.”  Everyone, regardless of their politics or beliefs, holds the man in high esteem.

PUA Schools and the Quest for Liberation

William and I have recently been debating on whether the Asian Playboy created his own system of pickup, and whether it’s right that Mystery, whom everyone agrees was Playboy’s original teacher, doesn’t get credit on the main section of APB’s website. I’m neither a Mystery nor an APB disciple, so on some level, it doesn’t make a difference to me. However, I think it’s an interesting question, both philosophically and practically. For William, it makes a difference since it’s how he defines himself and his activism. Is he an ABC guy, a Mystery Method guy, or will he do his own thing?  To further explore this question in depth, let’s look at martial arts.
