The Book Launch

The Book Launch event for the Where Are You From? anthology was a success! We had around 35 people. It was a diverse crowd, and we sold all the books we had on hand. Two authors even flew in from California. It was my first time promoting a book. As we continue to promote, I’ll share whatever insights I have.

It was particularly fun hearing Lawson Inada speak and hearing three of the authors reading. Reading is a solitary endeavor, but it was quite powerful to hear the words from the authors themselves, along with their own background and how they arrived where they are.

    Nice! :D

All the best! Your anthology certainly deserves a place in every Asian American family’s library! :D

    Thanks, Raguel!

  3. Keep up the good work! I’m still waiting for my copy to arrive from the states – sometimes it takes weeks for packages to get through – that’s why I haven’t mentioned it on my blog. I want to see how my contribution turned out before I venture a word!

I hope that other activists follow the example of your group and go the self-publishing route. That way we might stand a better chance as a community of developing a more autonomous voice that doesn’t require our stories to be diluted in order to not appear threatening to the mainstream.

Thanks, Ben! I wish you could’ve been there. It was really cool. Beth and Dmae read their work, and Michael spoke about his life.

I think you’ll like how it turned out!
