Kobayashi arrested at Nathan’s hot dog contest

Check out the video above and the article here.  Takeru Kobayashi, the former champion hot dog eater, was arrested at the annual Nathan’s Famous Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest.  He was not competing this year because of contract disputes, but he was in attendance.  The crowd started chanting “Let him eat!” when they saw him, and Kobayashi, filled with excitement, tried to climb the barrier and get on stage.  He was arrested, and he spent a night in prison.

By the way, don’t believe those who say competitive eating isn’t a sport.  Check out the actual arrest footage–it took  four large members of New York’s Finest to pull this guy off the barrier and arrest him.

There’s some amazing power in that 160 lb. body. Free Kobi!

    Hot dogs. Breakfast of champions.

This is pretty hilarious. But what’s even more interesting about this case are the reasons behind Kobayashi’s contract dispute with Major League Eating.

And if you look at videos from a few years ago, Kobayashi was much more ripped then.

They should bring him back in. He’s the one who really brought the sport to the forefront. Had it been just another fat person scarfing down hot dogs, the world would not have noticed.
