I agree with everything you said. About #1…I think...
I saw this video via a shared link of Facebook and found it hilarious on multiple levels, but especially as a teacher I deal with:
1) There are always certain curriculums / books / subjective matter that a few (but very vocal) parents think will automatically brainwash or scar their children. Example: “I REFUSE TO LET MY SON LEARN ABOUT THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT, BECAUSE CIVIL RIGHTS IS ABOUT HATING WHITE PEOPLE AND HE’S WHITE. THAT’S RACIST!”
2) Children are always the first to call adults on their BS. I loved how passionate the kids spoke up for how much they loved learning Chinese, even in the face of the (hilarious) Aasif Mandvi’s over-the-top questing.
