Hey Byron. I posted this comment over on MinorityMilitant and thought I might as well share it with you as well. I’ll ask you the same question I asked MM.

I don’t watch much TV (brain cells are too precious to waste) so I only just today came across some info about the ABC show FastForward that I hadn’t heard mentioned in these parts.

Tell me your thoughts about the pairing of Gabrielle Union and John Cho on FlashForward? Not just their being interracial (although hardly a first –Torque and Romeo Must Die already broke that ground LONG ago!) though I’m sure you’ve some thoughts on that .
Asian male bloggers have long compared their dating plight to that of black women, and have long said that maybe they need to expand their dating pool outside the asian female sphere.
Seems, at least on TV, we’re getting a dramatization of this “solution.”
Combine that with how this is a pushing back against the media’s systematic “de-sexualization” of the asian man’s image, and I’m doubly curious to get your thoughts on this.

Another thing. Cho and Union’s relationship isn’t presented as being fraught with dysfunctions and hang-ups. They’re normal and happy.
Hell, even Sun and Kim on LOST never had it that good!
Now I KNOW you got some thoughts on THAT! LOL

Okay, okay, it’s probably a little soon to be making any determinations here, but dare I ask if this might perhaps be a trend in the making?
Between John Cho, and what’s his name on 3 Rivers might we finally be seeing some movement on the Asian Leading Man front?

Side Note: Personally John Cho is still too scrawny for my tastes, (Will Yun Lee would be MUCH better IMHO) but hey, considering what there was before (namely: nothing) I suppose there’s not much room to quibble.
Anyway, can’t wait to get your take on this.
