Give to Sam Yoon

I missed the August deadline (sorry Sagar), but the election is just 20 days away. If you are an American who has five or ten bucks to spare, please visit bigwowo’s fundraising page and drop a few Washingtons and Lincolns in the bucket.  Sam really does need your money, and Asian America really does need strong, responsible leaders like Sam Yoon.  Give up your Starbucks for two days, and you could help Sam make history.  To see my previous fundraising post on why I’m supporting Sam, go here.

Looks like the debate is one 7:00pm EST, which started 14 minutes ago.

Man, he cleaned up at the debate!

Seriously, he took ownership of the stage. I knew he was going to shine on education too.

(and man, that Menino is a HORRIBLE public speaker.)

  4. jaehwan says:

    Oh…TMM…thanks! We’re doing something good!

  5. asianguy says:

    i gave $5 also

  6. jaehwan says:

Thanks, Asianguy. I just heard that even though we missed the August deadline, they still did really well. This truly is a good cause.

  7. uRB4N says:

I’ll give you a message some time. If you’re only looking to hit your target of $250, I can help you reach it.

  8. jaehwan says:

    Hey urB4N,

Thanks. I hope I’m not strong-arming because if I am, I shouldn’t. I’ve been on the receiving end of “my daughter is selling girl scout cookies” many times.

Haha…seriously, my integrity demands that I not guilt-ride anyone into donating, so if I’m doing that, just let me know and we’ll leave it at that.

Other than that, I’d still like to do either a podcast or an unrecorded conversation on why supporting Sam Yoon actually does a lot for the long term health of a community with a big IR disparity.

  9. uRB4N says:

Just shoot me a message some time. I doubt we need to do an entire podcast as to why we should be support Sam Yoon. You already wrote it up and I’m sure you’re an honest person in vetting Sam out.

  10. asianguy says:

when do we know the results of the election for Sam Yoon?

  11. jaehwan says:

The first election is on September 22nd (Thymos’s Five Year Anniversary), and so we’ll probably find out on September 23rd (bigWOWO’s One Year Anniversary). Easy to remember, right?

If he does well (places in the top two and, I’m guessing, gets a certain percentage), there’s a second election on November 4th.

  12. uRB4N says:

You’ll hit your goal over the weekend.

  13. uRB4N says:

Might have been a little too late to make any difference. Oh, well. He can use it next time.

  14. jaehwan says:

Thanks so much, uRB4N! I’ll write a longer piece for the front page tomorrow, but Sam promised to spend every penny of it during the podcast, and since there’s still more than a week to go, I think he can do it. Let’s hope for the best!!!

  15. uRB4N says:

Well, he shouldn’t spend it on magic beans just for the sake of using it. If it doesn’t pan out, he can use it next time he runs.

  16. jaehwan says:

Agreed. I think in politics, though, there’s always the media waves–if he can mobilize people or get more TV spots, I think it’ll be money well spent.
