Sam Yoon: bigWOWO's Fundraising Page

You all heard my Sam Yoon podcast a while back.  He’s clearly one of the coolest politicians to hit the scene in a long time.  I was originally planning to throw a big wine event in Portland to help him raise money, but after soliciting feedback from the local Portlanders, it would be hard to generate the kind of interest we want–people in Portland care about politics in Portland, not Boston.  I’d be stuck with gallons of wine, and I’d be drunk for the next year (which may not necessarily be a bad thing with this economy).

At the same time, I think Sam is a great politician.  He’s well read, passionate about his city, and a fighter.  He’s what more Asian men should aspire to be; he’s the role model that we need on the national stage.  If he cinches up this mayoral position, I think he will do great things for the top college city in the country.  He’ll set an example not only for Boston but for the rest of the country, even if many of us don’t live anywhere close to him.

So here’s my request…please go to bigWOWO’s Sam Yoon  fundraising page and drop five to fifteen bucks.  I’m not going to ask for a lot because I know most of you will never reap any direct benefit from his political skills.  Still, I also know that there are many of you who would love to see a strong Asian American role model have an opportunity to do something great.  The Asian American community needs to support people like Sam.  He’s asked me for my support, and now I’m asking you for your support, even if it’s just a little bit.

Hey, the Chinese are gamblers, right?  Put your money on the table and let’s see what Sam can do for you, for me, for Asian Americans, and for all Americans who love education and transparent politics.  I’m betting on Sam.
