“The Battle of East and West?” Man, the gimmicks people use to sell tickets! I don’t blame them–with the UFC eating into boxing ticket sales, they have to do something to save this sinking ship. But still–”Battle of East and West?”
As for the fight itself, it won’t be pretty. Barring some kind of miracle, Pacquiao is going to open Hatton up like a can of tomato sauce. It won’t even be close to fair. Pacquiao, as they mention in the video, is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world today, and I guess he has to fight someone. But this fight isn’t going to be nice or even exciting. Unless you think of it as a “Battle of East and West.”

Pacquiao just needs to be focused and not take Hatton for granted.
Hit the Hitman.
And take care of bidness, as they say.
if Manny fights a smart fight and uses his speed the way he did against De La Hoya, he’ll frustrate Hatton. Hatton will be lunging at air as Manny circles left or circles right or bobs and weaves.
From the ends of the universe to the center of the ring…? SO dramatic… and yes, I see your point.
Just from the ads, it does look like an unbalanced fight, speed-wise and reflex-wise. Although, underestimating your opponent can be a downfall.
I’m off to see the fight right now. I have PacMan winning in Round 10. TKO. Stoppage. We’ll see.
Hey TMM,
Are you back yet?

“Round 2: …. Another hard right by Manny. Hatton is target practice. More rights by Manny. Just assaulting the champ! Hatton down! He’s out! It’s over! Hard right hand did it!”
damn, I just watched the news conference on ESPN. Glad I didn’t shell out the bucks to see it on pay per view!
Manny is The Man!
I was watching this at the bar with some friends and man, people were pissed that it was over so fast.
In-fucking-sane. I wanted to call it earlier, but I think I overestimated Hatton. I haven’t seen someone put to sleep like that since Tarver V. Jones II.
That guy is so fast. I don’t think Hatton even saw half those punches coming. I knew it was going to be a bloodbath, but even then, I wasn’t predicting the second round. A 2nd round knockout at the light welterweight level? Insane.
PS: When I wrote the original blog post, I had forgotten that Hatton was a title holder, so maybe it changes my original post. I guess it’s good for Pacquiao to collect as many titles as he can.
