The NY Times had an article about Energy Secretary Steven Chu’s  adjustment to Washington today.  He’s got a bumpy road ahead.  It’s hard for numbers guys to get used to the rough and tumble of debate.  It says:

Asked later what part of his job he liked the least, Dr. Chu said: “The fact that I’m constantly being told that I have to be careful what I say to the press and in public. I can’t speculate out loud anymore. Everything I say is taken with total seriousness.”

I think out loud a lot.  Can’t do that when you’re under the gun, but he’ll eventually adjust.  He’s a pretty smart guy.
