IR on the Decline

picture-2Saw this on the 44s.  Apparently IR is on the decline:

Katie Xiao emigrated from China when she was 4 and always thought of herself as Americanized — until she started dating.

Subtle cultural clashes with Caucasian or Latino boyfriends led to unhappy breakups. It made her realize she’s more Chinese than she thought. Now she wants to meet a man of Asian descent.

The article then goes on to talk about how she might possibly be interested in a Korean dude whose name is Jaehwan (that last part was just a joke).  I guess things are changing–for some people, anyway.  In earlier days, I might say that this is a good thing since this could be an indication that the post-colonialist “white is right” mentality is on the declline, but these days, I’m a bit more skeptical.  I still don’t see a sea change in the way people think, but who knows how things will pan out?  I’d love to hear their full stories.

(Another point that I made on the 44s: Why don’t the guys in the picture above want to be identified? They should be reppin’ for their Asian bruthuhs!)
