NY Times Section on Media and Advertising

The NY Times now has a section devoted specifically to issues on media and advertising.  See it here.  I’ve known about it for a while.  I hit the page and checked it out for the first time today.

Some interesting stories:

1. More analysis on the financial state of the NY Times.  Overall it looks positive, much like the Bill Keller analysis that I posted last week.  But who knows?

2. Newsweek is revamping its identity and target audience.  The current business model  isn’t working financially, so they are making drastic changes.

3. Celebrity magazines are taking a hit.  This defies conventional wisdom as economic downturns usually foster a need for escapism.

4. Of all the different forms of media and media revenue, television still reigns supreme.
