I haven’t had a chance to take a look at this in depth yet, but a National Asian American Survey on voter patterns came out today. You can find their website here, the short press release here, and the full report here.
Among the interesting statistics is that one third of Asian Americans get their political information from Asian-language newspapers and television. If you remember earlier this year, this was a major issue when a certain Political Action Committee (whose name we won’t mention…oh, fine we’ll mention it…) threw significant political weight by printing false propaganda in the Asian language media. I guess this means that someone is going to have to study hard so we can translate our Thymos site in order to educate Asian America.
Anyway, this could be useful information to any Asian Americans involved in politics or political action.

I am surprised to see how important API news media is. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. On APA Compass in Oregon (check it out online at http://www.kboo.com/apacompass) First Fridays 90.7 FM in Portland, they had an interview with folks about the elections. One thing that was said about our voting pattern is that we are the only ethnic group that has been increasingly supporting Democrats over the last 3 election cycles.
Hey Joseph,
Thanks for your comment! I didn’t know that APANO was interviewed by KBOO, so I’m psyched about checking it out! Hey, we’re going to be doing podcasts on big WOWO (see here), so if you ever want to talk about APANO for the readers of this site, let me know. You’re local, so we’ll get the best sound quality!
Actually, I would love to interview you about APANO, so let’s definitely talk about it. I’ll contact you after Thursday.
For non-Portland readers, APANO is the Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon. Check them out here.
Here’s the correct URL for KBOO’s APA Compass: http://kboo.fm/APACompass
And the audio for the elections: http://kboo.fm/node/9721
There are other podcasts available too on the program page.
Enjoy!
