Everyone is posting this up, so I’m going to be a follower and will do the same. I don’t know about the political ramifications of such a video…but it’s absolutely hilarious. Enjoy!

haven’t seen this before. i have one non-political ramification response to it: the girl’s cute!

Haha…Jin, beauty and cuteness are totally political! If he were with a fat girl with zits, activists would lump his form of representin’ in with William Hung’s!

Actually, there is a political ramifcation this video brings up that we talked about earlier with the NYT wedding videos: Why don’t you see more “Asian on Asian” love in the media?

In the mainstream media, you always see the stereotypical AF/WM duo. But even when you see some Asian guy–like in this video–it’s often as a AM/non-AF couple.

Larry, you bring up a good point in re: race relations.

In this day and age, there is a diversification amongst the dating/mating scene. All races date either their own kind or outside their race (either preferentially so). But it’s a hypercritical topic, as if one prefers another ‘race’ then that those ppl are considered betrayers to their own kind. And if they prefer to date their own kind, then they are not being open-minded. Either way, one gets judged. As for Asians - we’re an interesting species because I think there is a lot more judgment perse within our race. Historically, we have imposed a subconscious categorical tier amongst other asians. Reproducing within the confines of our own ethnicity was once more prevalent than it is today. Most other asians I meet today are mixed with something. I wonder if even 100 years from now how many people will be roaming the world with “pure” chinese blood or korean blood etc. This brings up another topic: the occasional ‘identity crisis’ of those that are mixed.

I forgot to mention the mainstream media aspect - I think the present media tries to be sensitive re: the race relations topic. It could be one of the most “backlash-able” aspects in the media. As a matter of fact, I think the media wants to depict racial diversification to portray the level of the so-called ‘openmindedness’ in society today, moreso than the past.
