Admin notes/thanks!

Hey All,

Just wanted to give you all a quick thank you for participating in what is almost bigWOWO’s first month of operation. It’s been awesome so far in terms of moving the conversation forward, and I sincerely appreciate everyone who has visited and left comments. If you’re lurking, I invite you to leave comments.  We’ve got people with a serious activist mentality which is what I think we need. After all, there is little fun in talking if we’re not going to make change.

So just a few administrative notes:

1. Theme: There are no permalinks on our posts.  I intend to change this in the next couple of weeks when the next update to the theme comes out.  I still can’t fix the blockquote function, so please continue to use the italics.  It’s bad, I know, but unfortunately I’m not a programmer…

2. I hope to schedule another phone conference soon.  This time, let’s talk without recording.  Let’s keep it informal, kind of like a get-to-know-what-you-do-offline.  I’d like to get an idea of any activist activities which you guys and gals might be involved with, and if we have the opportunity, we can coordinate them.  I’ll post up an announcement for that phone conference, but if you’d like to be in on this, contact me at naruguard-44 at yahoo dot com.

3. If you have suggestions, please feel free to post ‘em up here.  I was thinking of adding a forum similar to the ones on all the other Asian American sites.  Forums are cool because it’ll allow people to post stuff up themselves.  Of course, it might take more work too.  I was thinking of maybe adding a freeware version, and if it’s popular, then we can upgrade to something better.  Any ideas on this?  Is this something you all would use?  (I also have to check if it’ll work with my hosting service.)

If we do add the forum, we’re going to have to find a way to continue to allow anonymous logins on the blog while having a separate forum.  Ideas would be appreciated.
